IMore: Apple May Show iPhone 5 on Sept. 12 for Release Sept. 21

Tuesday, 31 July 2012
* Apple is planning to hold special event Sept. 12 to show new iPhone and iPad mini, iMore reports, citing 'sources who have proven accurate in the past.'

* Apple stock rose 2% after this news was released

• iPhone release date to be 9 days after event, on Sept. 21; release date for iPad mini not known

• iPod nano and ipad mini to also be shown at Sept. 12 event

* We're still hearing the iPad mini will be exactly like the 9.7-inch iPad, only scaled down to 7.x-inches

* We originally heard Apple had a few iPhone 5 prototypes, including 3.5-inch and 4-inch versions, but recent reports and parts leaks make it look like the 4-inch, 16:9 screen version is what Apple's going with

* We've also consistently heard all new iOS devices will have the new, smaller Dock connector going forward, which along with the nano-SIM and rumored in-cell display should leave lots of room for the LTE radio we heard about earlier in the year, and the bigger battery to go along with it

* Japanese blog Macotakara has posted a video of the next iPhone's supposed case - it looks similar to what has been displayed in 'leaked' images

• NOTE: July 25, BMO, SocGen said AAPL fiscal 4Q guidance may indicate new product during end of Sept. qtr

* NOTE: Piper Jaffray, Deutsche Bank, Jefferies expect iPhone 5 in Oct.
